Common questions
Why one-off pricing instead of a subscription?
SceneWeaver is a tool you might use for years on a single novel. We don't want to charge you every month for software you've already bought; we want to build something good enough that you'll happily pay for the next major version when one arrives. Pay once, own it.
What about VAT and other countries?
The prices shown above are in pounds sterling and include UK VAT. Outside the UK, payment is processed by our merchant of record (Paddle), who shows the local-currency equivalent at checkout and handles country-specific VAT or sales tax automatically. You'll see exactly what you pay before confirming.
What's the difference between Student and Pro?
Both unlock unlimited simultaneous manuscripts and every feature in Version 2. There are two real differences:
- The Pro licence is permanent and includes commercial-use rights. Pay once; it's yours indefinitely.
- The Student licence is discounted but requires verified student status, re-checked every twelve months. After graduation, you keep the Student tier for a further twelve months and can upgrade to Pro for a discounted £49 at any point during that grace year.
If you're a verified student, the Student tier is the better deal while you're studying — and the £29 plus the £49 upgrade later comes out to the same as buying Pro outright, but you get to pay it in two parts. If you're not a student, Pro is yours.
Does my licence expire?
The Pro licence is permanent. Once you've purchased it, the unlimited tier is yours indefinitely.
The Student licence is a one-off purchase, but your student status verification expires after twelve months. While you're studying, re-verify in the app each year to keep the Student tier.
If your student status ends (for example, you've graduated), you have a further twelve-month grace period on the Student tier — plenty of time to either upgrade to Pro for a discounted £49 or simply enjoy that final year at Student tier. At the end of the grace year, if you haven't upgraded, SceneWeaver returns to Free tier limits. Your manuscripts always remain editable; only the cap on creating new manuscripts re-applies.
Both tiers also check in with our verification service in the background every few months. If verification hasn't succeeded for over 18 months — for example, your machine has been offline that long — the application drops back to Free tier limits. Click Verify now in the app once you're online to restore your tier.
Can I get a refund?
Yes — within 14 days of purchase, for any reason. See our refund policy for details.
